John Theodore “Ted” Crow of Scottsdale AZ passed away January 5, 2021 of Covid-19 at the age of 94. Born on a farm in Perry County PA, Ted was raised by his widowed Mother along with four older siblings. He spent his school years in State College with frequent working visits to his grandparents’ farm in Hunters Valley. He loved farming and always pitched in whenever “home”.
Ted and brother Frank served in the US Navy during WW II. While on duty, Ted earned a degree in Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology through the Navy’s V-12 Program and was commissioned Lieutenant (JG).
His 35+ year career took Ted’s family to new hometowns in Western New York, with foreign assignments in Canada and Venezuela. Wherever he lived, Ted enjoyed golf, tennis and singing in church and community choirs.
Ted outlived two wonderful wives, June and Betty, and is survived by sons Bob (Anne) and John, five grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, many friends and a large extended family that he adored. A half-dozen or so unranked nephews and no fewer than nine “favorite nieces” will miss his calls.
Ted’s cremains will be interred with June in Williamsville NY when it is safe again to gather. A virtual memorial service is being planned.
Gifts in memory of Ted will be gratefully received by Honor Flight Arizona, The Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, The Westminster Village Foundation, and Arizona Together, a statewide coronavirus relief fund.
