Deadline to register is September 13, 2024.

COST TO PARTICIPATE

The music selections listed above and transportation to and from the venue should be your only cost. All groups are responsible for purchasing their own music and there is no registration fee.

Tickets for the concert are $5 and are available at Tickets or at the door (12 and under are free). Festival participants do not require a ticket.

IS MY CHOIR ABLE TO PERFORM A SOLO PIECE?

Probably.  When you fill out the registration at the link above, let us know that you will be attending and that you would like to have your ensemble perform. We can only allow a limited number of groups to participate in the concert and each youth choir will be limited to one song per group.

REPERTOIRE
The mass choir pieces are listed below.  You can get the music from whatever music distributor you prefer, but we wanted to let you know that all three pieces are cheaper at Sheet Music Plus compared to J.W. Pepper.

Let the Music Fill Your Soul by Jacob Narverud, directed by Tim Westerhaus

Come Travel with Me by Scott Farthing, directed by Joey Johnston

The Morning Trumpet by Mack Wilberg, directed by Brook Larson

EVENT UNIFORM
Participants should wear their B uniforms as opposed to their more formal concert attire.  For most adult choirs this will be something like a polo/golf shirt and khaki pants. Students are encouraged to wear a T-shirt or polo with their school’s/choir’s name on it.  We only ask that the students don’t look sloppy, so no torn jeans or faded shirts please.

EVENT FORMAT & DETAILS
The format for the day will be very similar to the past several years.

  • Each director is responsible for rehearsing the mass choir pieces before coming to the festival.
  • Recorded parts for all three mass choir pieces can be accessed by using this link Mass Choir Tracks
  • Mass choir rehearsal on November 2nd will begin at 1:00.  Each guest conductor will get approximately 45 minutes to rehearse their piece.
  • We will take a 20–25-minute water, cookie, and bathroom break.
  • Three adult choirs will each perform two selections for the other choirs and audience.
  • Approximately four youth/school choirs will perform one selection each for the other choirs and audience. Please indicate in the application if you desire to have your group perform.
  • Following the individual choirs’ performances, all singers (junior high, high school, and adults) will come together to perform the three mass choir pieces.
  • Admission for friends and family who want to see the concert will be $5. Tickets will be available in advance online at Orpheus.org and can be purchased at the door.
